So far, it was terrible for a young girl like (Name).
Sitting alone by a bench in the corner, not daring to go by any of her friends, she might end up looking like a third wheel (and to no doubt, no one likes that). Of course they all had been asked out, but as for the young girl, she had absolutely no avail nor any type of luck.
The poor girl knew that would be coming, but all her friends insisted on coming along. What other could she do? Stay at home, read a romance novel or two...
...But here she was stuck here alone by the loner bench in a corner where she hoped that no one will notice her.
Life’s a party isn’t it?
Slumping in her seat she heard her stomach growl, in demand for some food. She glared at her pudgy stomach, poking it a few times in hope that the belly fat will go away just like magic. (Name) sighed, obviously starving as she didn’t eat absolutely anything once she arrived at the prom. She was paranoid of gaining a single pound, considering the awful fact that she already weight a little bit too much. (At least thats what she thought.)
The table which consisted with piles of food, variations from countries all over the world stood amongst her almost as if it were to mock her with shame and mercilessness. She glared, stomach growling in annoyance again and tried her best containing it.
To keep her mind off the food she looked at the happy couples and groups of friends jumping and dancing to the beat of the music. She wish that should have joined them. But alas, the girl was less than confident of herself. How she cursed her shyness and unwanted body!
Ten minutes had passed and it had felt like an hour. She thought about checking up on her friends, or maybe telling them that she may be deciding to leave this place.
But should she?
(Name) sighed sadly pulling the edges of her sweater to cover the top of her body. Maybe in about Ten more minutes she’d leave this miserable place... She did have other plans, right?
Just as she was close to calming down, the lights turned dim as the music had gotten even louder. People all around the building gathered to the dance floor jumping and dancing even mildly than ever before. Everyone screamed in excitement some singing (more like yelling) along with the song playing, while the music began pounding through everyones ears. (Name) squeaked huddling close to herself.
She definitely should leave now, but she didn’t want to risk being pushed or trampled over by those party animals out there.
She just began hiding in the now-dark-corner that she had been sitting in.
She soon found herself looking at her other friends, noticing that a certain someone was with a group of his friends, laughing. She noticed how he blushed once one of his friend seemed to have said something.
And if she recalled that she read his lips correctly, it would have said, “(Name)”
Cue them motioning a hand to where you were sitting.
Have they noticed you the whole time?!
Doing what her instincts told her to, she sprung up from her seat in search of one of her friends. (Name) didn’t want to see the Australian boy just yet! She didn’t want to be all flustered when he talked to her, like he did before...
She sure did stutter a lot, keeping her voice quiet with normal people, but with the Aussie, Jett... That was a whole different story.
What ever happened to their mutual and normal friendship?
Spotting her friend from Seychelles, she immediately, ducked behind her hoping that the boy wont spot her. “Hey, (Name)! What are you doing-”
“P-Please don’t say my name so loudly Michelle... I-I don’t want him to see me!”
“(Name)?” She replied quieter, “Whats wrong? Did something bad happen? Wait.. Did Jett confront you in any bad way?! I swear if he did I’ll-”
“M-Michelle...” You said almost pleadingly. She knew about your little crush on the Aussie. It was nearly obvious. “He did nothing wrong... It was just that I think he saw me, and I wanted to get out of there so I found you and I hope that you can hide me because you know I’m a little o-”
“(Name)..” She sighed. “You’re hopeless, you know that?”
The shy girl gave her a quizzical look.
“Stop being so insecure about yourself!” Michelle laughed, offering you a smile. “Look, you don’t need to worry about your physical appearance, okay? You’re fine, just the way you are! If you start looking at the positive things more than the negative things, maybe you’d believe in me! Honestly, you look really cute in that dress! Why are you wearing a sweater over it? Here this out'a do it!"
Without any warning Michelle slid the jacket right out of (Name)'s body, revealing her gorgeous looking dress.
As it was (Name)’s turn to offer Michelle a nervous smile, placing a hand over one of her arms “T-Thank you... I never thought about it that way... Maybe I can-”
(Name) darted her head to meet Michelle's. "You did not." She said harshly.
Only a giggle was a respond as the Seychellois girl winked and skipped off. "You'll thank me later~"
And thus Jett found his way over to (Name)'s.
Despite the other people in the room, both of them alone.
Her face instantly turned a bright shade of red, as the taller male looked at the girl in front of him. He tried his best holding in a chuckle. From the Aussies point of view, the flustered girl was actually really cute.
It didn't matter what size she was. He truly thought that (Name) was truly beautiful human being.
(And it was true.)
He smiled, trying to get the girls attention he beamed. "'Ello, (Name)!"
She jumped up, body trembling slightly. Lifting her head up just alittle bit, she smiled gently, and replied, "He-Hello Jett."
Seeing that a new conversation is starting his face lit up. "How are you, today? Are you enjoying the prom? Where's your lucky man? I haven't seen him yet!"
(Name) proceeded to hang her head down in embarrassment. Oh if only he knew... "Not to break it to you, but I'm here alone." She said whispering. "I should be saying the same to you. Where is your date?"
Jett looked at her with disbelief. 'How can a girl like her be single?' "What? You're here alone? Really? I was expecting someone ought'a swip you off your feet!" He exclaimed. "That means two of us, I'm here alone aswell!"
(Name) looked at him weirdly. "You're here alone too?"
"R-Really? Why is that...? I was expecting a guy like you to ask someone out, or be asked out!"
"Aww! (Name) are you trying to flatter me?"
'Did I really just say that I don't of him?!' Once again, she ended up humiliating herself. "No-No! I meant- I just assumed that you were going out with something it wasn't like I was implying someth-"
Just as she was about to finish her sentence, a slow song came up as the DJ had proudly announced it.
Now the poor girl had her face completely red. She had perfect timings alright. Trying to get out of Jett's sight again, she thought of a poor excuse. "He-Hey, I think I hear my friend calling me! M-M-Maybe I should go check-"
She looked at him with surprised eyes.
"I understand that you're suffering from your appearance.. Look, I don't care what anyone thinks. Crickey, you're beautiful!"
He could see the happiness in her eyes.
"So if I have the honor of asking... Do you care for a dance?"
Of course (Name) couldn't withstand such an offer like this. He held out a hand for her to take, which she giggled and held it. "Yes, I would."
